Another issue is that at least on my motherboard the chipset fan is located right beneath the GPU and it's covered by it, which means a worse airflow and probably a lot...When I upgraded to an x570 board I installed my gpu on the 2nd lower PCI slot because otherwise it would block the chipset fan. But that placed my gpu over my m.2 slot which made its temps go up. And my chipset temps still weren't looking good when playing games. Like the chipset would get to 75C and my m.2 drive was nearing 70C. TL;DR: Fans on motherboards are the dumbest shit! Don't buy X570! As someone who has seen a bit of hardware come and go over time, I can say Hmmm… I may be miss remembering but I vaguely remember there being chipset fans back in the day, but they tended to be screwed into the channels...It can hit 1000-1500rpm at idle and over 3000rpm when gaming. It doesn't help that the fan is blocked by my GPU (an XFX 5700xt thicc2), they're actually touching and it took quite a bit of effort to get the GPU seated enough to lock it into the PCIe slot. The PCH fan/ heatsink seems to be in the worst possible place, next to the only full x16 slot. Asrock also indicates that the fan over the AMD X570 chipset uses EBR bearings that last significantly longer and provide considerably higher airflow than other fans. Now, presumably the "other fans" referenced here refer to the standard ones recommended by AMD for the X570 chipset.
